Join Us for Davenportage XI: A Journey Through Toronto's Historic Portage RouteDear Adventure Enthusiasts,
We're thrilled to announce the 11th annual Davenportage event, set for Sunday, November 3rd! This unique experience invites you to retrace the steps of Indigenous peoples who historically portaged their canoes between the Humber and Don rivers in Toronto.
Davenportage XI offers a rare opportunity to relive history by carrying a canoe along the ancient portage route. This event challenges you both physically and mentally while connecting you with like-minded adventurers and history buffs. It's a chance to experience Toronto from a whole new perspective, immersing yourself in the city's rich cultural heritage.
We welcome your involvement in various ways. First and foremost, we invite you to participate in the event on November 3rd for an unforgettable journey. If you're unable to join as a portager, we're always in need of volunteers to help make the day run smoothly.
One crucial aspect of our event is the canoes themselves. If you have access to light canoes, please let us know. We're always looking to make ourselves look stronger than we are! 😉
To help plan this year's event, we're hosting a planning session on Thursday, September 26th at 6:30 pm at the Quail (Yonge and Roxborough area). Beer will be provided, so come join us and be part of the behind-the-scenes action.
For those seeking more information, our website at www.davenportage.ca is regularly updated with event details and history. We encourage you to visit and explore the rich tradition of the Davenportage.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to challenge yourself, learn about local history, and be part of a growing tradition. Whether you're a seasoned portager or a curious first-timer, Davenportage XI promises an adventure you won't forget.
