One of Western Canada’s most respected and authentic roots singer-songwriters, McCann is known for deeply narrative songs, soulful vocals, and a sound shaped by folk storytelling, blues grit, country honesty, and Americana tradition. Born in Toronto and raised in Peterborough, Ontario, he made his way west to Calgary in the 1990s, where he quickly became a cornerstone of the Alberta roots music scene.
Over more than two decades, Dave has built a rich, critically acclaimed catalogue including Woodland Tea, Country Medicine, Shoot the Horse, Dixiebluebird, Circle of Light, Westbound ’til Light, and his latest album, Soothsayer’s Blues — a powerful, late-career statement rich with grit, insight, and hard-won truth.
