Cellist and five-time Grammy nominated composer Dave Eggar joins UVA Wise’s own pianist Peter Ryan and Symphony of the Mountains Concertmaster Sean Claire for Traditional Fusion: Appalachian/Classical Fusion Works for Piano Trio featuring Broadway star Maya Days on Monday, April 19th at 7 p.m. in Cantrell Hall on the UVA Wise campus. The performance is free and open to all. For more information and to make reservations, please visit proartva.org.The program will premiere new works from Appalachian-area composers Martha Redbone, Donald Sorah, and Benjamin Dawson that fuse traditional elements of Appalachian music with those of classical compositions. Maya Days (Aida, Rent, Jesus Christ Superstar) joins the program with works from Sondheim, Bernstein, and Billie Holliday to warm up your winter blues. The performance is brought to you in conjunction with Pro-Art’s W. Campbell Edmonds Concert Series and in partnership with The University of Virginia’s College at Wise.
