As the late Sly Stone sang, it's a family affair at Best Video Film & Cultural Center on Fri., Sept. 12. Singer-songwriter Dave Brooks shares the bill with his son Tate's band, The Problem With Kids Today. The show starts at 7 PM and the cover is $10.Dave Brooks, a songwriting cornerstone of The Streams, Vaca Sagrada, and The Lean-To’s, will perform with friends and his son Tate’s band, The Problem With Kids Today. Renowned for his poppy, topical songs that deftly blend science, mysticism, and, during his time with The Streams, vivid explorations of the American Civil War, Dave’s set will draw from 37 years of music. Anticipate surprise guests, dynamic collaborations, and a vibrant night of genre-spanning songscapes infused with cinematic flair and tongue-in-cheek humor.
The Problem with Kids Today is a hot trio of rock ‘n’ roll delinquents with Tate Brooks leading the charge on guitar/vox/mic head-butting, Stone-Cold-Silas Lourenco-Lang on low end bass/vox, and Reena Yu pounding on drums. TPWKT’s fun, wild shows and feverish, fashionable following evoke the Mercer Center Arts era of the New York Dolls. Fast, combustible, lewd and spontaneous – they have all the gems of a fantastic live act.
