Co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders are far more common than many professionals realize—and when they go unrecognized, outcomes worsen, crises increase, and systems become strained. This interactive training will equip participants with a clearer understanding of how these conditions overlap, what to look for, and how to respond with confidence and compassion. Attendees will leave with practical knowledge they can use immediately to improve assessment, communication, and support for individuals and families affected by co-occurring disorders.
You will learn:
- Understand the foundations of co-occurring disorders — including how mental health and substance use disorders interact.
- Identify practical screening and engagement strategies to better recognize co-occurring disorders, reduce misdiagnosis, and respond effectively.
- Apply evidence-informed approaches and tools for supporting individuals with co-occurring disorders.
