Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, silver, or platinum, and dates back to the late 15th century. In mental health spaces, the process of brokenness and repair can be one marked by beauty and meaning.
Schedule
- Overview of the Kintsugi-making process, including instructions and a description of materials and tools (no need to bring anything!)
- Hands-on exercise using pieces of broken pottery, in which participants are led through the process of repair and decoration
- Personal stories and processing , which includes opportunities for sharing personal narratives and connecting authentically, all within the safety of a professionally-facilitated group
