Event Description:
The BFA Interaction Design program at the California College of the Arts is pleased to introduce a new CCA Interaction Design & New Media Lecture Series with our first speaker, Yoon Chung Han, and her talk on Data-Driven Design and Artistic Visualization. This lecture series is open to the public and offers contemporary insights into design, art and new media.
Speaker Bio:
Yoon Chung Han is an interactive media artist, award-winning interaction designer, and educator. Over the past fifteen years, she has created a wide range of interactive 2D/3D audiovisual art installations, data visualization and sonification using biometric data and environmental data, and multi-channel video installations. Her works have been presented in many international exhibitions/conferences, including Currents New Media, Japan Media Arts Festival, London Science Museum, ZKM, NIME, ISEA, ACM Multimedia, ACM SIGGRAPH, ACM SIGCHI, IEEE Vis, and Leonardo Journal. She was the recipient of a National Endowments for the Arts, Adobe Design Achievement Award, and 2023 San Jose Creative Ambassador. She earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree at the Seoul National University and her second Master's degree at Design | Media Arts, University of California, Los Angeles. She holds a Ph.D. in Media Arts and Technology at the University of California, Santa Barbara and is currently an associate professor in the Department of Design at San Jose State University.
