About this Event
The impact of the coronavirus pandemic and now the cost-of-living crisis have brought into sharper focus the divisions that exist in our society. Divisions that mean for many people lives that are marked by disadvantage, poverty and discrimination. It is hard to hide from the reality of inequality in Scotland today. But how we can begin to overcome the divisions that continue to limit the lives of so many people?
We are delighted that Darren McGarvey, the author of the 2018 Orwell Prize winning Poverty Safari and the recently published The Social Distance Between Us, will deliver this year’s Challenge Poverty Lecture. Darren will talk about some of the key themes in his most recent book, about the divisions that exist, why and how they are perpetrated and what can be done to address them.
This free event will include time for Q&A with Darren to explore the key issues that face us today as we challenge poverty.
