Event Schedule:
Friday – (sunset 8pm)
7:30pm: Night Hikes – Red flashlights required
1. Rock Garden Trail - .6 miles – rocky trail – 1 hour to 1 ½ hours
2. Carrizo Creek Trail - .5 miles – easy flat trail – 45 minutes
9:30pm-10pm – Welcome to Black Mesa and Dark Sky educational program (Coffee/Hot Chocolate) – What Black Mesa State Park has done to become Dark Sky certified and what it means to be a dark sky park
10pm-11:30pm Telescopes with OKC Astronomy Club
Saturday – (sunset 8pm)
5pm-6pm Planispheres craft with OKC Astronomy Club
6pm-7pm – Dinner (Hot Dogs with chips and beans)
7:30pm - 9pm Cowboy talk program around the campfire (S’mores) – The sky as it once was, Moon for navigation, North Star – play “The Wagon Tongue” song, History of the area
9:30pm-11:30pm Telescopes with OKC Astronomy Club
10pm – Cell Phone Astrophotography at the rocks on the Rock Garden Trail- Red flashlights required
