Calling All Dedicated Bharatanatyam Dancers: Once-In-A-Lifetime Opportunity Awaits!

It's a true honor to witness an acknowledged master of her art, Rukmini Vijayakumar, perform in NWA. What's even more special is her enthusiasm to conduct extended workshops for local Bharatanatyam practitioners, providing a rare chance to learn from her extraordinary talent.
On August 28th, 2024, and again on August 29th, Rukmini will hold three-hour workshops for those who have already trained for at least five years as a Bharatanatyam dancer.
Sponsored by Ra-Ve Cultural Foundation, the workshops will focus on exploring the adavus, finding intention in every step, and deepening the Bharatanatyam vocabulary for each individual. Rukmini's approach to Bharatanatyam is dedicated, demanding, and layered, and her process of creation is both traditional and contemporary. Students at this workshop will gain immense artistic insight as well as rigorous training in advanced Bharatanatyam.

Prerequisite: five years training in traditional Bharatanatyam dance
Fee: $300 per student
Rukmini Vijayakumar is renowned as a choreographer, Bharatanatyam dancer, and actress. She is the artistic director and founder of the Raadha Kalpa dance company and the director of the art space LshVa. She has presented her work as a soloist all over the world, including venues such as the Jacobs Pillow festival, Drive East NYC, and the Korzo Theater in the Netherlands. Recently she played ”The Goddess of Love” in the opera Sukanya, produced by The Royal Opera house in London. Along with her performances on stage, she has appeared in the films Ananda Thandavam (2009), Bhajarangi (2013), Kochadaiyaan (2014), Kaatru Veliyidai (2017), and Sita Ramam (2022). https://dancerukmini.com/about-me/
Ra-Ve Cultural Foundation was founded in 2018 with a mission to promote the traditional performing arts of India in NWA, by educating and inspiring people to learn, teach, and sustain those arts in our area.
