Direct from New York City, the legendary Ailey II, one of the most popular dance companies in the country, will rock St. Louis on Friday and Saturday, April 10 & 11, at the Touhill Performing Arts Center in an unforgettable weekend of world-class dance and iconic music. The Ailey II presentation includes the world premiere of BERRY DREAMIN — a new work commissioned by Dance St. Louis for its landmark 60th anniversary season. Choreographed by Chalvar Monteiro, a former member of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the world premiere work is a nod to the music, life and impact of the “Father of Rock and Roll” Chuck Berry.
Celebrating his birth 100 years ago and the music that transformed our nation, Chalvar Monteiro and Ailey II Artistic Director Francesca Harper take St. Louis on a journey with Ailey II dancers as our storytellers.
In addition to the vibrant BERRY DREAMIN, audiences will be captivated by a program of breathtaking works—each one showcasing Ailey II’s unmatched artistry, powerful technique, and boundless energy.
Ailey II moves audiences to their feet in cities around the world. Don’t miss this exhilarating opportunity to experience the beloved and acclaimed company live in St. Louis during our special anniversary season!
