About this Event

An all-levels curated dance experience. Something fun to do on a Friday night. Learn choreography, dance in a way you haven't danced before, connect, improvise, hang out, be human, have a good time, use your brain and your body in a positive way.

This 3 part series will explore three different topics this Fall. In each one, you will learn basic choreography that will culminate in an informal performance on Saturday, December 7 at the Oddfellows Hall. The performance aspect is optional and will probably include some extra rehearsals. You do not have to attend all three but you should...because...because it's gonna be fun to dance.

OCTOBER 6: VOGUEING CLASS + DANCE PARTY with Elizabeth Castañeda

NOVEMBER 8: THE OA Workshop with Trina Spiller.
In this experience, we will learn and create the Nevada City version of the 5 MOVEMENTS from the television series the OA. (

).The idea is that when we do these 5 movements together in perfect harmony, we will open up a healing portal. yup, a real Nevada City portal to the next dimension. You don't need to be familiar with the show to attend but go ahead and watch some episodes to get into the mood. The show is on Netflix. Trina will teach you some phrases of movement and she will also prompt you to create movements through specific questions that have to do with being human, connection, healing, your soul, growth and peace.We will have a few extra rehearsals to whoever wants to perform on December 7.

DECEMBER 6: Choreography Skills with Linda Bair
A class to fill your choreographic tool box. You will generate a phrase of dance or learn one of hers and then explore the many, many ways to manipulate that source material.....it is amazing how much can be developed from so little. Restriction can actually be quite freeing as it provides a clear land to play in.

DECEMBER 7: Informal Dance Showcase with the Linda Bair Dance Company + the material generated by the 3 workshops
