For our final Dance Loft Presents production, Artist-in-residence Gabriel Mata presents Primer Impacto! Inspired by their Mexican-American upbringing and the ritual of watching the high-impact nightly news on Univision, Primer Impacto, or “first impact,” highlights experiences, people, and cultural influences that have left an indelible mark on Mata's life.Each work presented in this evening embodies a moment of encounter, rupture, memory, or recognition—an impact that continues to resonate through movement, identity, and storytelling.
