In 2013, on April 24, son, brother, relative, and friend Matt Roth died from suicide. Since then, our family has made talking about suicide a priority. This Dance Fitness event is a fundraiser, where all money raised goes towards AFSP – American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. One of the more used resources AFSP offers is a hotline, available at any time of the day or night. Since 2013, our family has had several people reach out for advice regarding loved ones and thoughts of suicide. We always steer them towards AFSP and their resources.
Friends and Dance instructors Lisa Geraghty and Max Ott, will again teach the class. Admission is a donation to AFSP. You decide how much. You can either pay at the in-person event, online directly with the link to AFSP coming soon (copy, paste, and put in your search bar), mail cash/check, or through Venmo. You can donate and not attend, or attend and not donate. Lisa, Max, and I will work together to choose uplifting songs. As for cardio, it can be as little or as much as you want – your choice. Please don’t worry about your coordination – or lack of. The rules are….. well there aren’t any! Light weights of 3lbs or less, and light/medium leg bands are optional to bring. Like past years, I’m sure this event will be a blast….having a Zoom option makes it so loved ones, no matter where they live, will be able to take part. I hope to record this for those who can’t attend the Zoom session.
