Experimental Film Virginia presents “An Evening of Dance Film: Taiwan”
EFV has curated a selection of the best Taiwan-made films from the last ten years of the festival, featuring Taiwanese artists who attended Experimental Film Virginia, as both performers and filmmakers. This special screening will be presented in collaboration with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) between 2014 and 2022.
Experimental Film Virginia (EFV) is an artist residency and festival designed to support professionals in the creation of short, dance films in a peer-supported environment. The films are produced within a unique framework of exchange, collaboration and support. The hybrid festival and artist residency was founded by Renata Sheppard in 2012.
What is EFV?
The goal is to make a film the artist would never have made at home, surrounded by a cohort of artists from around the world and across different disciplinary backgrounds, all within the cultural context of a small town. For the public, it is an international cultural event unlike any other. For the artists who make and perform in the films, it is intense, challenging and beautiful. Launched in 2013 by the prestigious National Endowment for the Arts “Our Town” grant, Experimental Film Virginia is a celebration and an exploration, an art-soaked film-making residency for artists with live performance events for the community. It is the only film festival/artist residency where films are made in-situ and then immediately screened for the public.
