Dance at the Plaza: K-Pop [All Levels] with Andy Nguyen

Class Description:

​​​​K-Pop, short for Korean popular music, is a form of music originating in South Korea as part of South Korean culture. ​​It includes styles and genres from around the world, such as Pop, Hip Hop, R&B, Experimental, Rock, Jazz, Gospel, Reggae, Electronic dance, Folk, Country, Disco, and Classical on top of its traditional Korean music roots. Originally known as 'Gayo' in Korea, modern K-pop "idol" culture began in the 1990s. Our KPOP instructors will either highlight other KPOP choreographers reteaching combos from various music videos or create their own choreographed influences from various styles of dance. Students should expect to learn fun combos and increase their performance quality.

Location: All Fitness Court classes are outdoors at Civic Center / UN Plaza - 3537 Fulton Street, San Francisco, CA 94102. Andy Nguyen is a San Francisco native that started his dance career when he first joined SF Funkanometry’s youth team Funksters. He then graduated from funksters, to Project M, and now currently dances with Groove Against the Machines at In the groove studios in Oakland. He always had an interest in KPOP since young and found it as inspiration for him to go make dance covers or even create his own choreography to KPOP music. He has competed for KPOP cover competitions with Allkpop and KCON 2016 (GROO7E). Now he spreads his love for KPOP by teaching it at City Dance Studios, In the Groove Studios, and now excitedly to add to the list, Rae Studios!
