This summer, we want kids to experience the best MAH summer! We are excited to offer a week-long camp led by two local dance instructors.
About this Event

Camp Description

Have a tiny dancer who would like to explore choreographing with new friends? If so, we invite them to our week-long summer camp structured for those ages 11-17 to join in storytelling, learn about collective movement, dance history, and collaboration in a program led by Motion Pacific Dance instructors Gabi Piazza and Kali Lucas. Together, the group will create “moving murals” through choreography games and creative prompts. The camp will culminate in a showing for families to see what the students have created at the end of the week.

This camp runs from 9 am to 1 pm. The MAH will also be offering additional child care at an extra cost from 1 pm to 3 pm for those interested in staying past 1 pm. We encourage you to sign up before space runs out! Space is limited to 20 campers; snacks and materials are included with registration.

If you have any questions, you can contact us at [email protected].

Meet Kali

Kali (she/her) has been dancing for over 10 years and has deeply enjoyed getting involved in the dance community here in Santa Cruz. She moved here in 2018 when she began at UCSC to pursue her BA in Sociology and a minor in Dance. Her favorite styles of dance include modern, contemporary, jazz, and tap! Kali is so excited to work with your wonderful kiddos! Her favorite jobs have been working with kids over the years, especially in summer camps, and she is beyond grateful to be teaching dance. She can’t wait to see what we create together!

Meet Gabi

Gabi (she/her) has been dancing since she was four years old and has experience with a wide variety of dance styles, from ballroom to ballet. She danced all around Santa Cruz and finally found her home at Motion Pacific in high school. In college, she was a member of the Occidental Dance Team, as well as the Dance Production club, in which she choreographed large-scale hip-hop, heels, and contemporary numbers. She has experience working with kids in private childcare, as well as the Live Oak School District. She is currently the youth hip hop instructor at Motion Pacific.
