Taught by Mia of Mt. Moriah Farms
If you’ve been thinking about bringing dairy goats onto your place, this class will help you start off on the right foot. Mia from Mt. Moriah Farms will walk you through the ins and outs of raising and milking dairy goats in a way that’s practical, straightforward, and rooted in real farm experience.
Phase 1: Before You Bring Goats Home
We’ll cover the basics of what you need to have in place before purchasing your first goats. From fencing and shelter to daily care and time commitment, you’ll learn what to think through ahead of time so you can set yourself up for success.
Phase 2: Once You’ve Got Goats
Already have goats or planning to soon? We’ll walk through breeding considerations, what to expect during kidding season, and how to handle the kids. This includes de-budding, tattooing, registration, and making good decisions for your herd moving forward.
Phase 3: Milking & Daily Routine
You’ll learn the milking process from start to finish, including a live demonstration. We’ll cover cleaning practices, how to train does to the milking stand, and how to build a routine that works for both you and your animals.
