Dahlia Days at Wildhaven
Part 1 — From Field to Bloom
Sunday, June 14, 2026
1:00 PM–4:00 PM
Wildhaven | Newland, North Carolina
Limited to 10 guests.
Join us for an intimate afternoon at Wildhaven centered around dahlias — one of the most generous and rewarding flowers we grow.
Designed especially for beginners and curious flower lovers, Dahlia Days is a hands-on seasonal gathering where guests will learn the foundations of growing dahlias while spending a slow summer afternoon immersed in the fields and gardens at Wildhaven.
Together, we’ll gather around tables in the garden, celebrating the dahila including how to divide dahlia tuber clumps by hand, wander into the field to learn to plant tubers for the season ahead, share seasonal bites and botanical drinks, and step into the quiet rhythm of the farm as summer begins unfolding around us.
Throughout the afternoon, we’ll explore:
– the basics of dahlia varieties and growing habits
– how to identify healthy tubers, crowns, and eyes
– dividing tuber clumps by hand
– potting and planting basics
– planting out into the field
– simple seasonal care and watering
– cutting techniques that encourage more blooms
– the rhythm of growing through the season
****Guests will divide and take home an entire dahlia tuber clump during the experience, leaving with at least five individual tubers to grow at home — each capable of becoming a large, bloom-filled dahlia plant over the course of the season.
Many individual dahlia tubers retail for $10–20 each, making the take-home portion of the afternoon surprisingly abundant.
This is not a formal gardening course or floral design workshop. Dahlia Days is designed to feel immersive, relaxed, beautiful, educational, and deeply seasonal — rooted in connection, curiosity, abundance, and the joy of growing something with your own hands.
The afternoon also includes:
– botanical welcome drinks
– seasonal bites + gathering table
– immersive field and garden time
– a first look at Wildhaven’s newest additions for the season
– printed Wildhaven field notes
Part 2 of the series, The Final Gathering, will take place this fall and explore harvesting, arranging, digging, dividing, and storing tubers at the close of the season.
Tickets: $135
