Join Ikuntji Artists to learn one of Indigenous Australia’s oldest forms of art making.
Ininti seeds, which naturally occur in various colours including red, yellow, orange, dark red and brown, are paired with gum nuts to create striking jewellery. Artists will teach participants how to individually prepare and decorate gum nuts for this process, before producing a necklace or bracelet to take home.
Ikuntji Artists is a member-based, not-for-profit, Aboriginal art centre. It is situated in the remote Aboriginal community of Haasts Bluff (Ikuntji), in the Northern Territory with a total population of 150 people. The purpose of Ikuntji Artists is to make art in order to keep Anangu culture strong through intergenerational teaching, learning and telling stories.
