Stepping out on your own can be daunting for even the most experienced designer, running a business calls for many hats to be worn every day along with doing the work. This course is designed to give you ideas and inspiration to get a head start into freelancing, with lessons and tricks I’ve learned along the way.
What do you get?
Practical first hand knowledge of running a successful business.
Worksheets to create and take home your own design process and generate leads.
Confidently put your best self out there to work with clients.
Who is this workshop for?
Anyone considering freelancing, whether you are junior or leaving agency life, looking to work from home, or fit work in around children.
Course outline
Finding a niche | defining your ideal client
Creating clear systems and processes
How to build healthy relationships with clients
Creating a killer lead magnet
Selling value not time
Why should you learn from me?
I started my first design business 13 years ago to prove my eye disability was no barrier to doing design work and score me a job. Since that point I’ve always had my own clients, some I still have to this day. I’ve been fortunate to design a number of well known FMCG brands and much of that was due to my clear processes and knowing how to speak to people and build relationships.
Just being good at design is only half the equation when it comes to working for yourself. Balancing working in and on the biz is tricky and much of it can’t be taught at uni. It’s an on the job experience with plenty of ups and downs.
I now run a busy well known FMCG creative agency and I’d love to be able to pass on the learnings of a lifetime to other great creative brains in a fun collaborative environment.
See you there!
Laura
