Volunteer numbers for this project are based on adults and children ages 11 and older. Younger children are encouraged to attend with their parents but registration is NOT needed for any child 10 and under.
What sort of work will I be doing?
LANDSCAPING: Benjamin School is divided on two levels. We will be weeding,and applying mulch around the front of the school and in two planter boxes. There is also a tree to the left of the door that is overgrown with purple flowers at it's base that need to be dug/pulled out and mulch is then applied around it. On the lower level we are going to be doing the same type of clean up, there is a lot of debris by window 110 that will need to be raked out. Apply mulch around all section in from of the school. In back of the school we will be appling dirt along the sidewalk edges to prevent the kids from tripping. Items volunteers should bring: 3 wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels, pitchfork to load mulch in wheelbarrows. garden tools to remove weeds. see the video and PDF overview for detaled instructions.

El número de voluntarios para este proyecto incluye adultos y niños mayores de 11 años. Los niños menores de 10 años pueden asistir con sus padres, pero NO es necesario registrarlos.
¿Qué tipo de trabajo estaré realizando?
JARDINERÍA: La escuela Benjamin está dividida en dos niveles. Estaremos quitando la maleza y aplicando mantillo alrededor del frente de la escuela y en dos jardineras. También hay un árbol a la izquierda de la puerta que está cubierto de flores moradas en la base; estas deberán ser removidas (arrancadas o desenterradas) y luego se aplicará mantillo alrededor del árbol.
En el nivel inferior, realizaremos el mismo tipo de limpieza. Hay bastante escombro cerca de la ventana 110 que deberá ser recogido con rastrillo. Se aplicará mantillo en todas las áreas frente a la escuela. En la parte trasera de la escuela, se colocará tierra a lo largo de los bordes de la acera para evitar que los niños tropiecen.
