Join us for a special screening of D-Day Plus 20 Years: Eisenhower Returns to Normandy, the famous 1964 CBS News broadcast with Walter Cronkite in which former President Dwight D. Eisenhower returns to the beaches of Normandy and reflects on the events of June 6, 1944.Following the screening, award-winning journalist Al Hunt will lead a conversation with Susan Eisenhower, exploring the broadcast’s significance—how her grandfather remembered D-Day, what it reveals about his mindset and strategic thinking, and where he stood in his life and career twenty years after the war. They will be joined by one of Susan’s Gettysburg College students, Hugh Toner, adding a fresh perspective to this intergenerational dialogue.
This program offers a unique opportunity to explore the legacy of D-Day through Eisenhower’s own words, alongside thoughtful reflections from one of today’s leading voices on his life and leadership.
This program is free for students K-12 and undergraduates.
