The 2nd leg of the 𝐂𝐲𝐩𝐫𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐱 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 is coming soon - and this time we are bringing classical chess to the heart of Paphos!

This event is organised by 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐯𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲, with the support of 𝐏𝐚𝐟𝐨𝐬 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 and 𝐏𝐚𝐟𝐨𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛.
The tournament consists of two separate 5-round Swiss events:
🏆 𝐅𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧
Open to all players with a valid FIDE ID.
The tournament will be submitted for FIDE standard rating.
🌟 𝐔𝐧𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟖 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭
For young players under 18 who do not have any FIDE rating yet — a great opportunity to experience a serious classical tournament atmosphere.
⏱️ 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥:
60 minutes per player + 30 seconds increment from move 1.
💰 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧:
🥇 1st place — €200
🥈 2nd place — €100
🥉 3rd place — €70
👑 Best Woman — €70
Trophies and medals will also be awarded in different categories.

🏆 3 extra prizes in the Under 1500 rating category
💰 Money prizes in the age categories:
• U12
• U15
• U18
🏆 As part of the Cyprus Chess Grand Prix 2026, players in the FIDE Rated Open will collect Grand Prix points towards the overall standings.
This is a great chance to play serious classical chess, gain valuable tournament experience, fight for prizes, and collect important Grand Prix points.
