About this Event

Cyanotype workshop with artist Lizzie Cardozo

<h4>Lizzie Cardozo hosts a workshop of cyanotype photography at 'A Conversation with Water'. Her work, Family is a life size cyanotype print on cotton, depicting the artists mother and father as motifs in their resting positions. Exploring themes of home, family and identity.</h4><h4>
</h4>

Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to sunlight / UV light and washing with water to create white and blue images.

Through this workshop you’ll gain further knowledge of cyanotype photography and an understanding of the process of making a cyanotype print, from mixing chemicals to treating some paper.

You will learn to make your own print using a variety of objects / collected specimens provided by the artist and will take away 3 pieces of water colour paper cyanotype prints!

During the workshop participants will be looking at the archive, our relationship with nature and our environment, as well as touching on composition.

You are more than welcome to bring along any leaves or flowers you'd like to u which are transparent or have a nice outline.

<h4>Please be aware if any chemicals get on clothing it will stain</h4>

"A Conversation with Water" is sited in a former Sainsbury's supermarket and made possible with kind thanks to Get Living and East Village London in partnership with Hypha Studios.

A group of thirteen emerging artists present works relating to water, a most essential but often overlooked substance. Offering work which incorporates sculpture, kineticism, construction and installation; that investigates the boundaries of painting, print, video and performance. From the fragmentation of information to notions of time, place and temporality; exploring feminine identity through nature and surrealism. Exploiting speculative processes, which lead to enigmatic organic compositions; assuredly performative in nature, relating to the here and now.
