You are invited to this special collaborative workshop joining cyanotype printing with embroidery.
Join me, Daniela Sbrisny of Blueschein Printshed, and the talented crafter Chris Solly for a very special joint workshop at Genny's Emporium in Lewisham. We will run a 2 session workshop, across 2 days, each session lasting 3 hours packed with knowledge and hands on crafting to your heart's content. This creative immersion is designed to give you a truly multi-faceted artistic experience! The first day will be the 3-hour cyanotype printing session (2-5pm). You will learn about cyanotype printing and we will coat our own pieces of paper or fabric. You'll discover the magic of this historic photographic process, harnessing the power of the sun (most likely UV lights) and create beautiful Prussian blue prints on paper and fabric. Think leaves, flowers, and other interesting objects transformed into stunning, unique artworks. On the 2nd day we'll dive into our 3-hour embroidery session (2-5pm), taking your newly created cyanotypes to the next level!
This session is all about enhancing your freshly made work. We'll be using the cyanotype designs you created to embroider on, adding texture, detail, and vibrant colour to your unique prints. Chris Solly, a qualified teacher with many years of experience, will guide you through a variety of embroidery stitches, from simple to more intricate, ensuring you learn new skills no matter your experience level. Threads of a variety of colours and needles will be supplied, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm! This is a fantastic opportunity to combine two beautiful art forms, learn from two experienced instructors, and leave with a truly one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your personal touch.
