Cyanotype Holiday Card Making with Judy Pickett
Sunday November 9, 2024
1 1:30am-1:30pm
No previous experience is necessary. Join expert teacher Judy Pickett for a fun, casual, and relaxed 2hrs of group instruction with some one-on-one guidance in the cyanotype printmaking.
Cyanotype is an alternative photography method that uses the light of the sun to develop a blue and white image. During our class, the participants will design and develop beautiful handmade cards just in time for the holidays. You will leave the event with 10 lovely hand printed cards.
Judy is a local artist who combines cyanotype printmaking with encaustic painting. As a former teacher, Judy loves to teach others about her unique medium. “When I was introduced to the alternative photography method, known as cyanotype, I was hooked! Cyanotype uses photosensitive paper to develop an image without a camera. It creates beautiful blue and white images by laying an object or a negative onto the paper and exposing it in the sun. It's magic!
The class will include:
• We will talk about the history, and methods of this process.
• Approximate 1 ½ hrs of creating beautiful botanical printed cards
• Instructor will provide many options of items to create with.
$10 supply fee payable to the teacher will cover the cost of a 10 pack of 5x7 watercolor cards.
Registration includes admission to the beautiful gardens before or after class.
