About this Event
Cyanotype (pronounced Sy-An-O-type) was discovered in 1842 and is one of the oldest photographic processes. Cyanotype is a camera-less process that uses iron salts & UV light to produce distinctly vibrant blue & white prints of the subject(s) they are created with. It was a popular process in the 1800s for capturing images of Botanical species but fell out of favor as cameras gained popularity.
Join us for our Project We Society creativity workshop where you will learn the creative, unique, and fun process of making your own Botanical Cyanotype Print masterpiece from flowers, leaves, sticks/twigs!
All supplies will be provided for you. Take 1-3 prints home, depending on the size of the material(s) you choose.
Please note that this will be an outdoor event and needs sun to produce the best images. Therefore, the event is weather dependent. Fresh drinking water will be provided.
Participants must be 16+ years of age. This will be at a private residence.
No experience is necessary.
NOTE: This event requires a fully sunny day to create crisp prints. Workshop is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if not ideal conditions. Will be confirmed closer to the workshop.
