Step into a slow, tactile photographic process with artist Jie Wang and watch plants, light and chemistry collaborate.
About this Event

This hands-on workshop introduces cyanolumen — a cameraless photographic process that combines cyanotype chemistry with traditional photographic paper.

Working with botanical materials, light exposure and simple additives, participants will create one-of-a-kind prints that capture trace, chance and time. The session is gently structured but encourages curiosity and experimentation, making it suitable for complete beginners as well as those curious about alternative photographic processes.

You’ll leave with finished works and a deeper understanding of how images can be formed without a camera.

This session is suitable for beginners and those over the age of 16.

Artist bio:

Jie Wang is an artist whose practice explores alternative photographic processes alongside installation, sculpture, and material-led experimentation. Working across cameraless photography and tactile making, her work investigates how images can emerge through time, chemistry, and physical interaction, rather than through the camera alone. Alongside alternative photography, Jie’s work engages with architecture and space, examining how built environments shape — and are shaped by — human presence, memory, diaspora and identity.

Based in the UK, Jie is a final-year Art and Design student whose practice is rooted in curiosity, material awareness and alternative ways of seeing.
