We are excited to announce that the 2026 Cymdeithas Madog in-person summer course, Cwrs Cymraeg Bryn Dderw / Oak Hill Welsh Course, will be held at University of Rio Grande / Rio Grande Community College, Ohio from 19 – 26 July 2026
We have a great Cwrs planned for 2026! Our tutors' biographies will be available very soon on the Cymdeithas Madog home page under “learn more about our summer 2026 course.”
When registering, please select the level you would like to join: Mynediad, Sylfaen, Canolradd or Uwch. Please click here for a guide to our curriculum levels for help with self-placement.
The Wednesday excursion will be an afternoon of visiting sites along the Welsh Scenic Byway, notably the Lillian E Jones Museum in Jackson and the recently refurbished Welsh-American Heritage Musuem. The tour also includes a stop at the world's largest acorn!
There will be many other activities to enjoy over the week, including Welsh folk dancing (twmpath), film night, Welsh quiz, games night, and extra workshops on Welsh topics of interest. Our Noson Lawen and Eisteddfod will be highlights of the week!

Cost per participant for the week:
· Early Bird Residential (by 11:59 pm ET on May 22): $1,210
· Residential (after May 22): $1,310
· Early Bird Commuter or Tag Along (by 11:59 pm ET on May 22): $760
· Commuter or "tag-along" (after May 22): $810

24 hours of in-class instruction by qualified Welsh language instructors
Room, board and refreshments for the duration of the course

What’s included for commuter students:
- Tuition, all meals and scheduled refreshments, participation in all activities and Wednesday tour

Airport Pick-Up/Drop-Off
A free airport pick-up and drop-off service has been arranged for John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH).
- Pick up will be at 3pm on Sunday, July 19th. Please ensure your flights arrive in plenty of time. 3pm is when the bus leaves the airport.
- Drop off will be at 3pm on Sunday, July 26th, Please ensure your flights depart AFTER this time, and that you have enough time.

Check out our logo design for this year, and remember to order in plenty of time so you have your T-shirt to wear with everyone else over the week.
Eisteddfod : At each Cwrs Cymraeg, Cymdeithas Madog holds a Welsh-language literary composition competition among the students. If you're unfamiliar with eisteddfodau, click here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eisteddfod. Just as the National Eisteddfod of Wales awards a chair to the winning bard each year, so does Cymdeithas Madog (though our chair is smaller). Prizes are also awarded for beginner and intermediate entries. The competition is open for anyone attending the course and will be adjudicated by our Cwrs tutors.
