MEETING POINT is at the Cemetery Chapel at the Scartho Road entrance found beyond the entrance gates (not to be confused with the entrance to the Crematorium on Weelsby Avenue).

Grimsby (Scartho Road) Cemetery contains 291 scattered burials of the First World War, many of them seamen who served with the Auxiliary Patrol which operated out of Grimsby. During the Second World War, boats of the Grimsby fishing fleet were attacked at sea, and the town and port were bombed many times, incurring casualties among servicemen as well as civilians. The cemetery contains 261 Second World War burials, almost 200 of them forming a war graves plot. There are also 17 war burials of other nationalities, many of them German prisoners of war from the camp at nearby Weelsby.

The tour lasts approx. 60 mins and covers about 2400 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground.

Theres limited on street parking available. There are no toilet or facilities available at this entrance.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear suitable footwear.

Only assistance dogs are allowed in the cemetery.

Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.

The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).
