MEETING POINT: At the notice board just up from the main gates into the cemetery from Newmonthill Road.

Almost 200 casualties from World War One and World War Two are commemorated here. The tour will highlight some stories, encompassing service personnel from all three branches of the armed services and also civilians who were affected by war. There are some acts of heroism and bravery but also tragic accidents and illness, with events taking place on land, in the air, on the high seas and even under the waves. There are tales that are uplifting while some are desperately sad, and others have elements which remain unexplained.

Above all they show the personal stories of real local people, both those whose lives were cut short by war but also those left behind, including young children who were impacted by the deaths commemorated in the Cemetery.

The tour lasts approx. 90 mins and covers about 1000 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground.

There is limited parking but there's a small car park at the bottom of Newmonthill Road and by B&Q. Other on-street parking limited. Please do not drive into the cemetery.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear suitable footwear. Please bring water if required.

Onlt assistance dogs are allowed in the cemetery.

Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.

The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).
