Stamford cemetery is still an active cemetery with a wide range of old and new graves and memorials. There are 55 recorded CWGC burials scattered throughout the grounds, varying from standard CWGC graves to headstones added to family plots, and also some completely private graves. In other places there are family plots which include memorials to casualties buried elsewhere. In this way, most arrangements of remembrance are covered, even a hint to the more regimented Western Front type layouts with a group of six in two lines.
The tour lasts approx. 90 mins and coversa about 1000 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground. There is wheelchair access.
Parking is available on site. There are no on-site facilities except for toilets. Please bring water if required.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the cemetery.
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.
The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).
