Join the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for a free tour of St. Albans (Hatfield Road) Cemetery, led by one of our experienced volunteer tour guides.

MEETING POINT is at the Cross of Sacrifice in the central road point of the cemetery.
Come and hear about the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and stories of some of the men and women that are commemorated in this cemetery. There are 229 Commonwealth war graves in the cemetery spanning both World Wars. The tour reveals the history of how we honour our dead from across the globe. Hear first hand the fate of local servicemen including a 16 year old drummer boy, a nurse who worked at a local hospital and the strange story of a bricklayer from Luton.
The tour lasts approx. 60 mins and covers about 600 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground. There is wheelchair access.
Parking is available on site and nearby. There are on site facilites including toilets. Please bring water if required.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Only assistance dogs are allowed in the cemetery.
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
