MEETING POINT is at the main gate entrance.
Newton Stewart Cemetery offers an insight to the people of the area and their involvement during both wars and modern conflict.
Here you will learn about family loss, the extended use of private memorials to honour and remember loved ones who would not return. Learn about foreign allied forces who would lose their lives defending our country. Also learn of modern war casualties, all to familiar on our news today.
The tour lasts approx. 120 mins and covers about 500 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground and slopes. Wheelchair access is limited due to some headstones being in grassed areas.
There is limited parking nearby and on site. There are no facilities or toilets on site.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear. Please bring water if required.
Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the cemetery.
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.
The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).
