Join the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for a free tour of Leicester (Gilroes) Cemetery, led by one of our experienced volunteer tour guides.

MEETING POINT at the Cross of Sacrifice in front of the crematorium.
Find out about the brave people of Leicester that died in the Great War and the Second World War that are buried at Gilroes Cemetery. Who is the eldest soldier to die? Who is the youngest to die? Who is the highest decorated service man at the cemetery? We have some amazing ladies buried at Gilroes, come and find out their sad but amazing stories.
The tours lasts approx. 90 mins and covers about 2000 metres on paths and grass on uneven ground with slopes. There is wheelchair access.
There's limited parking on-site and nearby and there are on-site facilities including toilets but only available sometimes. Please bring water if required.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Only assitance dogs are allowed on site.
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
