About this Event
Tom is Artistic Director of the London Organ Day, and Regional Director for the North of England. He is a passionate and highly successful exponent of contemporary music: his programme will highlight ways in which the Christ Church organ can illuminate contemporary repertoire alongside earlier music.
The internationally renowned Richard Bridge Organ was installed in Hawksmoor’s architectural masterpiece in 1735. Bridge was one of the leading craftsmen of the era and his masterpiece for Christ Church Spitalfields was the largest organ in England at the time fully encapsulating in both appearance and sound the musical culture of the Baroque.
Until it was fully restored in 2015, very few people had heard the brilliance of this instrument. With an exciting programme every season, you can now step back in time and hear this unique instrument for yourself.
