About this Event
Cut From Her Own Image is a solo exhibition by Twin Cities multimedia artist Rajine Williams, exploring the Black feminine body as archive, landscape, and site of reconstruction. Using collage and found imagery, Williams cuts and reassembles visual fragments to create new narratives that challenge inherited representations and reclaim authorship over identity.
Through layered compositions of magazines, photographs, textures, and environments, the work explores memory, power, softness, and survival. Bodies appear fragmented but not broken — instead transformed into spaces of resilience, beauty, and self-definition. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on representation, belonging, and how identity is continuously shaped and reclaimed.
Join us for the opening reception featuring an artist talk, community gathering, and opportunity to experience the work in conversation with others. This event is free and open to the public, with food and refreshments provided. Hosted at the African Museum Arts & Cultural Center.
