Deborah Brown’s magnificent sculpture, ‘Johann’, is now a well-known feature of the Cushendun landscape, but her extraordinary significance as Ireland’s most pioneering artist in the 1960s is only beginning to be recognised.
John Hewitt was a supporter of Deborah Brown’s in the early 1950s, at the same time as T.P. Flanagan, with whom she was to develop a lifelong friendship, was also establishing his reputation.
This talk by Dr Dickon Hall will look at their work, and the friendship and connections between the three figures.
