About this Event
Curt Winn: A Life in Song and Service
Born on the banks of the Mississippi River, Curt’s life has always been a blend of grit, compassion, and creativity. His heart beats both for his country and for the stories that echoed throughout the landscape of the Ozark/Appalachian Mountains. A journey shaped by two passions: serving as a helicopter rescueman for over 20 years and passing on the sounds and music that served as the backdrop of his existence.
His deep connection to the land, its people, and the water began early through a series of events that eventually compelled him to join the U.S. Coast Guard. For two decades, Curt answered the call to save lives, flying into the most perilous situations as a lifeline for those stranded at sea, caught in violent storms, or in dire need of help.
Still, there was a yearning in him, a calling to create and share music and stories shaped by the traditional Ozark/Appalachian sound and the people there who made such a positive impact on him.
Curt’s songs are a narrative of experiences born at the intersection of sacrifice and storytelling. His music, a bridge between the past and present, the brave and vulnerable, the joys and tragedies that remind us, through love, friendship, compassion and acceptance, our journey is a shared one.
