This Summer we are offering our 2.5 hour Cultural Awareness Training for Community Service providers across three venues.
Have you wanted to do Cultural Awareness Training for work or life, but you haven't had the opportunity or a group to join? Well - this session is for you!
Tailored to suit any community services employees who wish to improve their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture, and to offer appropriate and effective service delivery in a culturally safe environment.
- Learning objectives include
- Increased awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures
- Increased knowledge of the impact of past government policies and practices on health and well-being (including colonisation, removal from land, and cultural dislocation)
- Increased confidence in identifying and communicating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Increased skill in providing culturally appropriate services, developing care plans and care packages, and utilising Medicare - - Item numbers and referrals to maximise health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
- Embedding Indigenous perspectives and culture in your workplace, by providing tools to deliver culturally appropriate activities to your clients and students
