About this Event
Join us for Cultural & Innovative Fridays at the Consulate-General of Japan in Boston, featuring a special program on the Koto, a traditional Japanese instrument.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The koto is often called Japan's "national instrument," but surprisingly, most people in Japan have never had the opportunity to hear the koto live. In this event, participants will have the rare opportunity to learn about this Japanese instrument up-close, focusing on:
-How an instrument with such symbolic value become marginalized in Japan's education system
-How the koto has been incorporated into Japanese music classes since the turn of the millennium
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reception table opens at 4:00 PM and closes at 4:30 PM
Please have your QR code ready to scan for entry - there will be a reception table set up in the lobby, next to the elevators.
