About this Event

The documentary presents Arnošt Lustig, the world-renowned Czech writer and three-time nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature, as he recalls a carefree childhood cut short by the Nazi occupation, the horror of life in a concentration camp, the beginnings of his writing career, living in Israel and the USA, and his lifelong friendship with Ota Pavel.

The discussion of Eva Lustigová, the film director and daughter of Arnošt Lustig, with Benjamin Frommer, Associate Professor of History at Northwestern, featuring the life of Arnošt Lustig against the backdrop of key hístorical moments of 20th century.
