About this Event
How can faculty and staff help students prepare not only for jobs, but for lives of purpose and contribution?
This interactive workshop explores the concept of vocation through historical, scientific, and practical lenses, examining how ideas about work and calling have evolved and why they still matter in undergraduate education today.
Participants will engage two decades of research on meaningful work, calling, career adaptability, and well-being, while also confronting common myths and misconceptions that often create anxiety or unrealistic expectations.
Through mini-lecture, personal reflection, and group discussion, attendees will consider their own sense of vocation and leave with some concrete strategies for helping students navigate career uncertainty, discern strengths and interests, and pursue lives of meaning and impact.
