ABOUT 'CULTIVATING A CULTURE OF PEACE'
The 21st of September 2024 is observed by the United Nations (UN) as the International Day of Peace, and marks the 25th anniversary of the UN’s initiative to develop a “Culture of Peace”.
This is a “set of values, attitudes, modes of behavior and ways of life that reject violence and prevent conflicts by tackling their root causes to solve problems through dialogue and negotiation among individuals groups and nations.” The UN theme for this year’s events is ‘Cultivating a Culture of Peace’.
In a world where protracted conflict and violence continue to rage, The Council of Christians and Muslims will take the opportunity to reflect on how we can contribute to ‘cultivating a culture of peace’ as people of faith.
