About this Event
How do you stay creatively motivated? How do you keep from feeling stale or stuck? This retreattakes place in Florence, Alabama, and is designed to help you find ways to continue to grow as a creative person. You'll learn tried and true practices...and more importantly how to mofidy them to work for you. But this is not just theory or lectures, it's a hands-on working retreat. When you leave you'll have a plan and resources to keep you thriving.
Friday,April 4 from 4-6pm with packet pickup, meet and greet, in a "come and go" setting. Attendance to this is not necessary, it's just an opportunity to get situated. For those who want a jump start, you can make your own name badge! If you can't make it Friday, you'll have the opportunity to make your name tag Saturday morning.
Our retreat space is the entire first floor of a beautiful old home that is next to the main gallery and part of the Kennedy Douglas Art Center in historic downtown Florence, Alabama. It has a lovely big veranda that we will make use of if the weather is warm enough, and across from a park.
Food:
Breakfast Muffins, fruit, coffee, tea, and juice Saturday and Sunday morning
Lunch is provided at the retreat on Saturday
Dinner is on your own, but we'll have a table at Rosies (less than 5 minute walk) for those who want to join on Saturday night
Snacks will be available in the kitchen through out the day
Coffee (some might ask, "Is it its own category?" and yes, yes it is.) Coffee will be available all weekend.
Saturday, April 5, 9am-5:30pmwe open up at 8:00 for anyone who didn't get their packets on Friday. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, find a seat, and make your name tag if you have not already. We'll start promptly at 9am. Here's the schedule:
- Class time: 9:00am-10:30am
- Break10:30am-10:45am
- Class time: 10:45am-12:15pm
- Lunch: 12:15-1:30pm
- Breakout session: 1:30pm-2:15pm
- Break 2:15pm-2:30pm
- Class time:2:30-4:00pm
- Field Trip to Thrift/Vintage store: 4-5:30pm
- Meet for dinner at Rosies at 6:00pm (on your own and optional)
Sunday, April 6, 9am-12pm
- Breakout session 9:00am-10:30
- Break 10:30-10:45
- Class time 10:45-12:15
- Finish up 12:15-12:30pm
- Optional group tour of Kennedy Douglas Art Center Gallery (next door) 1:00pm

PLUS We'll have SUPPLY SWAP...so bring a bag of materials you would like to swap. We'll have a table set up throughout the weekend for you to leave what you bring, and help yourself to what someone else has brought. Anything left over will be donated to the Kennedy Douglas Art Center for their classes.
Lodging
If you are coming in from out of town, there are several Airbnb's close to the Kennedy Douglas Center, 1, 2, & 3 bedrooms at very reasonable rates. Perfect for the Bring a Friend tickets! If you are buying one ticket, and interested in sharing a house with someone let me know.
