About this Event
Audubon Nature Institute's sustainable seafood program Gulf United for Lasting Fisheries (GULF) is hosting a Seafood Sustainability Seminar for Chefs & Restaurants!
This in-person GULF Sustainability Seminar will be open to chefs, restauranteurs, restaurant staff, and other members of the culinary community.
We plan to go over industry updates, the current status of Gulf fisheries and relevant fish stocks, and news around the community involving or impacting the seafood industry. We will also be sharing info about our Audubon GULF Restaurant Partnership Program, as well as our plans and currently scheduled events for 2026!
There will also be time both before and after the scheduled discussion for attendees to ask questions, open dialogue, request resources, and share your own updates and upcoming events.
Attendees can plan to leave the seminar with a fundamental grasp of:
- Understanding Sustainability: Attendees will understand what it means for seafood to be labeled “sustainable” and what efforts the seafood industry makes to maintain healthy fisheries.
- Identifying Sustainable Species: Attendees will understand what species to look for and how to identify sustainably caught Gulf species and how to source more sustainably in their procurement practices.
- Local Efforts: Attendees will receive an overview on current issues impacting the industry and what efforts the culinary and fishing communities are making to advance, promote, and protect the local seafood industry.
