About this Event
What is hindering us from talking about mental health? Fear, shame, stigma, and judgment are barriers to conversation about mental health concerns. The alternatives range from alcohol, drugs or suffering in silence. We will not change help-seeking behaviors, until we change the way we think.
The statistics are devastating and undeniable: suicide has become the third-leading cause of death for Black men, yet this Black men’s mental health crisis remains largely invisible, hidden behind cultural expectations and systemic barriers that prevent vulnerable men from seeking the help they desperately need.
Break the stigma: Conversations about suicide can feel uncomfortable, but one of the most important ways to reduce the stigma is to have honest discussions about the prevalence of suicidal ideation. Change begins with you.
