I'm really excited to announce my next event for all you lovers of everything Cuban! Come and join us for a fantastic two-day event!
On the Saturday night we will party the night away to one of the best Cuban DJs around, DJ Mark Huddleston, who will have the floor full all night!
If that isn't enough, we will carry on the weekend, on Sunday, with workshops by the brilliant Yersin Rivas! If you want to learn from a Cuban with true passion for his art, Yersin is your man. After working hard at the workshops, you'll need to relax, so come and enjoy the afternoon matinee in the gorgeous courtyard at The Hive. We've ordered the weather so sit back, sip cocktails, catch up with friends or keep dancing along to our wonderful DJ Mark Huddleston. What better way is there to end your weekend! VENUES
The salsa party on Saturday 10th May will be held at Lostock Club, Works Lane, Northwich, CW9 7NW, and the workshops with Yersin Rivas and Sunday Matinee will be at the The Hive, 19 Market Place, Winsford, CW7 3DA.
Lostock Club has a beautiful large sprung dance floor and free on-site car park.
The Matinee will be held in the Hive's wonderful courtyard. Please note if you park on The Hive's car park you need to input your car registration number on the tablet on the bar, there is also a large free car park across the road (Marina Car Park).
YERSIN GUILLEN RIVAS
Yersin Guillen Rivas was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, into a family with strong Afro-Cuban roots, and was brought up with a passion for music that inspired him to embark on a lifelong journey into the world of dancing. He started as a member of Cienfuego’s Casa de la Cultura and other Cuban National Art and Dancing Organisations.
Yersin performed in theatres and stages across Cuba, and after arriving in the UK he quickly became a hit on the local and international Salsa scene. One of the most sought-after instructors for Cuban Salsa, Afro-Cuban and other traditional dances.
Yersin has taught and performed at many major Festival and Congresses including The Latin Splash Festival, Cuban Salsa Congresses (Wales, Swansea, London and Bournemouth), Festival Dias Cubanos (Holland), Afro Cuban Pati Weekender, Pontins Weekender, Salsa Feel The Heat Weekender, Teeside Festival, Mambo City Congress, Scottish Salsa Congress, Eagle Tours (Barcelona,Malaga and Majorca,Spain), Salsa Caramba (Sweden), Latin Angels (Toulouse, France), Dance-Cubana Lloyd, Havananights, SalsaJulia, Salsabrighton, Bar Salsa, London and Brighton Cuban Festival. Yersin also featured on a South American tour taking his talent to countries such as Chile, Venezuela, Ecuador and Brasil, where he gave a series of workshops and master classes.
Yersin has appeared on both BBC and ITV, including the acclaimed British comedy drama programme, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, and the popular BBC drama series ‘The Hour’ starring Ben Whishaw, Dominic West and Romola Garai, where he provided coaching and choreography for the dance scenes.
Yersin has taught for more than 20 years and hundreds of people have benefited along the way embracing not only the dance, but the Cuban culture in general.
DJ MARK HUDDLESTON
Mark is one of the resident DJs at LatinMotion’s successful monthly Revolucion Cuban party nights in Solihull near Birmingham, which attracts dancers from across the Midlands and beyond. He can also be found DJ’ing in the Cuban room at the MotionCity and LatinMotion congresses at the NEC in August and New Year, as well as guest appearances at MeSalsa Birmingham, Cubanismo Oxford, Muchasalsa Leamington Spa, Parranda Sheffield, Siete Salsa Worcester, Gloucester, Cheltenham and more.
His salsa dancing story began in 2007 back in Cheshire, originally learning Cuban salsa (rueda de casino) at The Groves, before moving on first to Birmingham and now Bristol, from where he presents two weekly online radio shows on Our Salsa Soul Radio (OSSR), Latin Mixed Bag on Fridays 8-10pm and Cuban Sundays 6-8pm.
Mark’s aim is to read the crowd and the atmosphere, playing the right music at the right time, with a varied authentic mix from Timba to Son, classics to brand new tracks.

11:45 - 12:45 – Afro Rumba Fusion
13:00 - 14:00 – Salsa Fusion (applying elements of Afro and Rumba to Cuban Timba)
Some of the elements from the first workshop will be implemented in the second workshop. Yersin will also emphasis on musicality and the understanding of when to apply Afro and Rumba in Salsa.
Places are limited so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
SUNDAY MATINEE
14:00 – Doors open – DJ Mark Huddleston will be playing all your favourite Cuban tracks and Yersin will be leading fun animations throughout the afternoon.
