Learn Cuban style and how to understand and respond to the music when you’re on the dance floor. Learn how to dance on the beat (tiempo) and off the beat (contratiempo). Learn how to incorporate elements of the many different forms of Cuban dance related to salsa (bailes populares), such as son, mambo, pilon, cha cha cha and mozambique, as well as rumba (focusing on the playful guaguanco), in your dancing. Develop the skills and confidence to take your dancing to an advanced level, while never losing the love of the music or the joy and freedom of dance.
Your teacher
Juan Carlos Cabrera Borrero is a professional dancer who spent many years training and performing in his native Cuba. His teaching career began while working with the prestigious Ballet Folklorico de Cutumba in Santiago de Cuba. As well as teaching courses for adult students from Europe and America, he taught younger generations of Cuban dancers during his time with Cutumba. He has further developed his teaching style and experience in Europe. All his classes are designed to share his passion for Cuban dance and music as well as to ensure that his students have the best possible grounding in the elements of dance. His classes can be intense as he is determined to see his students advance and develop as confident dancers, but they are always supportive, social and fun. Above all, his classes are deeply-rooted in Cuban culture and authenticity.
